The Monday death of a 53-year-old female in Mapleton is under investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies.
According to a press release issued Tuesday by the Iowa Department of Public Safety, the Mapleton Police Department received a 911 call for an unresponsive female at 702 Monona Street in Mapleton on Monday, Aug. 24, at approximately 10:30 a.m.
After police, paramedics, and first responders arrived, Brenda Dailey of Mapleton was transported by medical helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City where she later died.
Dailey’s body was then transported to the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny where an autopsy was performed by Dr. Dennis Klein, stated the press release. Results of the autopsy are not complete at this time, and no further information will be released by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation will not be releasing any further information in the ongoing investigation.
Investigators do not believe the public is in any danger, states the press release.
The Mapleton Police Department requested the assistance of the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and is also being assisted by the Monona County Sheriff’s Office and the Monona County Attorney’s Office,
