YMCA Swim Team competes at state championships

County athletes represent FAST team, too

The Blair Family YMCA Swim Team closed out the two-day Nebraska YMCA Championship Swim Meet on Saturday in Fremont.
The Barracudas, who've been competing since October, swam in 12 lanes at the Dillon Family Aquatics Center against competition from throughout the state. Several Washington County swimmers from Blair and Arlington also competed for the hometown Fremont Area Swim Team (FAST) during the meet.
Two Blair relay teams earned top results Saturday morning. A boys 200-yard medley relay squad finished second with Colin Busboom, Jackson Norine, William Filows and Avery Spence celebrating the fact on the podium during a midday medal ceremony.
The Barracudas' 200 medley relay girls also medaled. The team of LeLah Filows, Addison Woehl, Bryher Gassman and Isabel Chrans was fourth.
The Blair Family YMCA team is coached by Skylar Tatreau. It hosted its home meet Dec. 3 and will next be represented at the North Central Region Swim Meet in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday.
