A Wednesday blizzard ruined Thursday, Friday and Saturday for Washington County's high school baseball teams.
Altogether, activity directors were forced to postpone seven games, which would have been the first seven games of the season.
Coach John Roan's Blair Bears were to play regular season Eastern Midlands Conference matchups against Bennington and Elkhorn, but both were postponed. Activities director Tyler Siecke confirmed Saturday that BHS was to play Bennington on Monday and will now host Elkhorn next Monday at Vets Field.
Fort Calhoun, meanwhile, lost three games to the March 19 winter storm. It was to play Omaha Bryan on Thursday in both teams' season opener before a Twin River triangular on Friday.
Coach Roy Prauner's team's matchup with Bryan will now be April 26.
Arlington's Omaha North tournament games, however, were originally only pushed back a day to Saturday. When reached by the Enterprise that morning, though, coach Justin Meyer said the Eagles wouldn't be attending as their community continued to deal with power outages caused by the blizzard days earlier.
The baseball season is expected to begin this week with games throughout, though that was the plan last week, too, before Mother Nature had other ideas.
