Baseball fields just outside of Elkhorn and in Ralston were too wet for play.
American Legion games in both locations were called off Tuesday afternoon before first pitch. The Blair Junior and Senior Legion baseball teams were to play Omaha Concordia at Orval Smith Field in Ralston, while both of Fort Calhoun's Zig Drywall squads were to compete against the ETC Knights at Mount Michael.
Without those games — and with last Saturday's home postponement against Ralston — Post 154 was yet to debut as of press time Wednesday. Coach James Bilslend's Blair teams, however, were scheduled to compete in Fort Calhoun later that night.
Many of Post 348's Senior players, meanwhile, are fresh off of a high school state baseball run that saw them last play May 20 during the Class C tournament. The Zig Drywall Junior team, however, competed Saturday in Valley against the OSAA MABL Green and the Waterloo-Valley Wingnuts. Calhoun won those games 15-0 and 4-0, respectively.
Weather permitting, the Zig Drywall Seniors will host at tournament starting today, too. At 5 p.m., Post 348 plays Waterloo-Valley. Blair then competes afterward against Black Sox 18U before play continues with Washington County games at noon, 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Blair will play at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, too, against Hickman Post 105 and the host team, respectively.
Arlington's American Legion baseball teams, meanwhile, were scheduled to begin Ralph Bishop League play on Wednesday, too. The Eagles next compete in Junior and Senior play today at 5:30 and 8 p.m. today at the Washington County Fairgrounds.
Complete results from the start of the Senior Legion baseball season will be covered in the next Washington County Pilot-Tribune edition Tuesday.
