The Arlington boys basketball team had momentum and lost it.
The Eagles dropped their season-opener to West Point-Beemer 48-42, following an 8-0 run to end the third period with just three total points in the fourth. The Cadets outscored coach Tyler Spitser's inexperienced squad 16-3 during the final quarter to pick up the road victory.
Sophomore Trent Koger scored 13 points for AHS in defeat, including a bucket during the third-period scoring run which turned a 32-31 deficit into a 39-32 advantage. Senior post player Weston Wollberg started the streak with back-to-back buckets before Koger's pushed the Eagles out front by five.
Freshman Oliver Ladehoff finished off Arlington's 14-8 third period scoring as his squad appeared poised to start the season with a win. West Point had other ideas, however, starting off the fourth quarter with their own 8-0 sprint before Darren Olson's bucket gave Spitser's squad its last lead — 41-40.
In addition to Koger's 13, guard Kieryn Grothe score 11 AHS points with two made 3-pointers. Wollberg added eight points, Olson had five and Ladehoff scored three in his high school debut. Tim Halley notched a second-period bucket, too, finishing the game with two points.

No. 3 Bluejays beat AHS
The Eagles managed just 22 points in their second game of the season Saturday, dropping a 58-22 road game at No. 3 Ashland-Greenwood.
Ladehoff led coach Spitser's squad with eight points, scoring six of those points from the free throw line. Koger and Wollberg added seven apiece, too, but it was far from enough to keep pace with the Bluejays.
Cade Bridges scored 13 points to lead three Ashland players in double figures. His team improved to 1-0, while the Eagles go into tonight's road game at Yutan 0-for-2.
