Due to heavy rainfall Wednesday morning, the Washington County Fair announced it will be cancelling the evening's Demolition Derby and Lemon Fresh Day concert.
A statement was provided by Fair Manager Brian Smith to the Enterprise:
"With the over 3 inches of rain we have had here on the Washington County Fairgrounds this morning, things are very wet. The livestock auction will proceed as planned with viewing at 2 (p.m.) and the auction starting at 3 (p.m.)," the statement reads.
"This was not an easy decision for the Fair Board. The challenge is in our inability to provide safe parking for fair goers and contestants. This year’s Fair has had its difficult moments, but many more highlights. We pulled off the concert and had great nights of rodeo and tractor pulls. We appreciate the support of the community and look forward to the 2024 Fair which will be held July 26 through the 31."
