Update: WCSO searching for stolen vehicle in relation to suspicious death in Fort Calhoun

The Washington County Sheriff's Office and Douglas County Sheriff's Office are investigating the death of an elderly woman near Fort Calhoun on County Road P43 Monday morning.

Sheriff Mike Robinson told the Enterprise it is unknown if the cause of death is a homicide or not, but the two departments will remain on scene to continue investigating before any more information is released.

The Enterprise will update this story as more information becomes available.

Sheriff's Office searching for stolen vehicle

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate the following stolen vehicle: 2010 Burgundy Chevrolet Equinox, license 29-K826, according to a press release provided by the Sheriff's Office Monday afternoon.

"The vehicle was stolen on Aug. 13, 2023, from the 6500 Block of County Road P43 in the Fort Calhoun area," the release states.

"The theft was discovered when deputies responded to a suspicious death call. The vehicle has been entered into NCIC as stolen. The vehicle is believed to be in the Omaha area. If located, contact Detective Sgt. Brian Beckman 402-426-6866 and preserve the vehicle for processing."
