A team of seven Blair youngsters competed March 23, 1985, during the Nebraska Jaycee BB Gun Championship at Beatrice's Civic Auditorium.
Bethany Snover, Trisha Forsen, Blake Edwards, Jon Rennerfeldt and Jeremy Karmann — as well as alternates Tafida and Jeffery Forsen — took a written test concentrated on gun safety before testing their own marksmanship.
“The teams were grouped very close in the test competition, and we did very well,” said Jim Bohaboj of the Blair Jaycees, who acted as the Blair team's coordinator.
The Washington County team was comparatively young to its age 8-14 competition, however, and finished among the bottom half of teams behind the veteran, championship team from Alliance. Even so, Bohaboj was excited about the teams' future in BB Gun Championship competition.
“By gaining more experience, Blair has the potential to become very competitive in marksmanship,” Bohaboj said.
