Washington County’s high school volleyball season came to a close Tuesday during subdistrict play.
After Arlington was eliminated from contention Monday, Blair and Fort Calhoun continued play Tuesday. The Bears lost to Bennington during the Class B Subdistrict 1 Tournament at Elkhorn North, while the Pioneers lost their second-round matchup against top-seeded Omaha Concordia during the Class C1 Subdistrict 2 Tourney.
BHS fell to the Badgers 3-1 — 25-14, 25-15, 24-26 and 25-22. Andi Hume’s swing over the middle of the net led to set point during the Bears’ third-set win.
Then, during the fourth set, Hailey Roewert’s kill evened the score at 18-18 before Bennington ultimately closed out the overall victory.
Blair finishes the 2024 season 17-16. It’s the first time the Bears have closed out a fall campaign with a winning record since 2002.
At Concordia, Fort Calhoun followed up its first-round sweep of Louisville with a 25-18, 25-18 and 25-15 loss to the Mustangs. The Pioneers close the season 10-19 overall after winning two of their last three matches.
