Blair High School basketball teams went 0-2 against Bennington in subdistrict play Wednesday.
While the Bears’ boys hoops season came to a close in defeat, however, the girls squad will get another chance against the Badgers. Coach Matt Aschoff’s team plays at Bennington again Saturday during the Class B-5 District Final. The official start time wasn’t announced as of 10 p.m. Wednesday.
In the first postseason matchup between the teams, the Badgers won 55-43. Kate Wulf led Blair (15-10 overall) with 17 points during the B-1 Subdistrict Tournament loss, while Addie Sullivan scored 11.
At Elkhorn North, the BHS boys lost their B-4 Subdistrict Tournament opener to Bennington, 78-61. Bo Meier led the Bears in defeat with 16 points, while Brevin Leggott scored 10.
Coach Chris Whitwer’s team closes the season 10-13 overall.
Coming up
Washington County postseason basketball play continues Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
First, the Arlington boys play a Class C1-4 Subdistrict final Thursday at top-seeded Omaha Concordia at 6 p.m.
Then, on Friday, the AHS girls host Central City in the C1-7 District Final. The 7 p.m. game’s winner will advance onto the state tournament.
Finally, on Saturday, the Blair girls play at Bennington in the aforementioned B-5 Final.
