Storms keep 2 Arlington Seniors games from happening

Junior Legion team picks up victory

Posted

When the week began, the Arlington Senior Legion baseball team thought it'd be busy.
Instead, Post 71 didn't play Monday or Tuesday against Columbus Lakeview or South Sioux City. Rain rolling in through Platte County kept Monday's game from happening before the threat of more precipitation kept South Sioux City from traveling to the Washington County Fairgrounds a day later. Arlington coach TJ Stosich theorized Tuesday's opponent didn't want to go through any delays after it spent 2 hours in one on Monday in Oakland.
Post 71 does hope to play today back on its home field, though. The Seniors are scheduled to host Plainview at 8 p.m. after the Junior Legion game at 5:30.

Post 71 Juniors win
While Arlington's Seniors didn't play Monday at Columbus Lakeview, the Juniors did, picking up a 10-2 victory.
The Eagles scored six runs during the second inning after the home team scored one during the bottom half of the first against starting pitcher Luke Ott. Coincidently, the right-handed starter opened the second frame with a double before Cameron Wirsen later hit into an error to plate the game's first two runs.
Wirsen scored on a passed ball, too, before both Burke Quinn and Liam Shearer put the ball in play to tally three more runs on Lakeview miscues.
