Steady bows

Youngsters complete 4-H archery shoot in Blair

Posted

There was no chatter between archers at Orion Archery Club in Blair.
Pure focus at the line.
AJ Gustafson, 11, Marcus Dolezal, 10, Kerrigan Johannes, 10, Tyler Kuhr, 10, Jesse Lode, 10, and Beka Goetz, 8, held their bows steady and competed Tuesday during a Washington County 4-H Indoor Shoot Competition. After two practice rounds from 10 yards, they took aim for eight more officially.
The young archers fired five arrows per round, seeking as many points as they could achieve by hitting bullseyes. After each round, they set their bows down and walked up to the paper targets to help tally their scores.
The shoot was the second recent 4-H event at the Orion club. On June 28, older competitors eyed the targets from 20 yards away.
Next, on July 23, there will be a Washington County Fair competition, too. The fair officially begins July 29 this summer.
