The first and only Arlington High School girls wrestling state medalist added a silver Wednesday during the NSAA State Wrestling Championships in Omaha.
Senior Kelise Krivohlavek finished second at 120 pounds in Class B, going 3-1 during the two-day tournament. She won her first two matches Tuesday by pin against Saije Phelps of Sandhills Valley and Tekamah-Herman’s Kristi Raue before securing a 14-11 overtime decision Wednesday in the semifinals.
Krivohlavek trailed Battle Creek’s Ella Reeves late during regulation in the semis matchup, but tied the match in the final seconds with a takedown. Then, during OT, the Eagle — who earned fourth at state in 2024 — secured a sudden victory takedown to advance onto the finals.
Columbus Lakeview’s Lacy Lemburg beat Krivohlavek by 10-0 major decision in the championship bout, but the AHS standout still closes her final prep season 36-2 overall.
“She’s different,” Eagles coach Layne Laaker said, detailing all of the hard work his two-time medalist put in. “She’s going to hold records for years to come and, even though she only got 3 years, I have a feeling a lot of those records are going to be really hard to beat.”
While Krivohlavek reached the finals, four more Washington County wrestlers earned top-5 finishes Wednesday in Omaha.
Fort Calhoun freshman Beckah Gossman was third at 145 pounds in Class B, closing out the tournament with a 4-1 record. She had three state pins and was 47-4 this season overall.
Blair’s Ali Wheeler, meanwhile, secured her first state medal with a 4-2 tournament record at 115 pounds. The senior was 32-11 this season, earning her last victory against the wrestler who bested her during the district finals — Waverly’s Mackenzie Olson.
Calhoun’s Annaleigh McLaughlin and Madi Larrick added fifth-place Class B finishes, too. McLaughlin went 4-2 at 105 pounds, closing out her season 47-18 overall.
Larrick, meanwhile, went 3-2 at 130 pounds inside the CHI Health Center. She, like McLaughlin, closed her tourney with a pin, finishing the year 36-12.
