Blair High School senior Jack Schroeder closed out his NSAA Class B State Boys Golf Championships appearance Thursday after 36 holes in Gering.
The Bear finished with 183 total strokes at Monument Shadows Golf Course, improving on his first round score by 11 strokes during his second. He carded 97 swings Wednesday before finishing Thursday's round with just 86.
"Consistent," BHS coach Ross Udey said of Schroeder's second-day play, complimenting the senior's putting. He sank a birdie putt, for example, on hole No. 17.
Schroeder's score also improved with the weather in Gering. While it rained during the first day of the tournament, the second was filled with sunshine.
"It's definitely a course to remember," the senior said.
Play continues on at Monument Shadows at the time of this update. Elkhorn North leads the Class B team standings by 10 strokes with a few holes to go. Final results and more comments from Schroeder and Udey will appear in next Tuesday's Washington County Pilot-Tribune.
