Sheriff's Office investigating fatal accident on CR 15

The Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating a single-vehicle accident that occurred Friday around 7 p.m.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a press release, the Sheriff's Office were notified of a single-vehicle personal injury accident with people pinned inside the car in the 1700 block of County Road 15.

Deputies located the vehicle off the roadway in a creek bed. They determined the vehicle left the roadway into a ditch, striking a tree before coming to a rest.

Deputies and rescue personnel from Blair, Herman and Arlington fire and rescue departments were able to save two boys, ages 4 and 2, who were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

One was taken via squad, and one was taken via helicopter.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 29-year-old Merry Van Der Hart of Herman, who was pronounced dead at the scene along with a 9-month-old girl.

The accident is still under investigation.
