The struggling Arlington High School baseball team faced stiff competition from two of Class C's best Friday and Saturday.
The Eagles first lost at No. 1 Malcolm, 14-2, before a 12-2 home defeat to No. 4 Lincoln Lutheran.
To start the weekend off, though, AHS scored a run during the top of the first inning against the top-ranked Clippers. Senior pitcher Blaine Vogt delivered it via sac fly, giving coach Tyler Stender's team its first and only lead of the road contest.
Down 1-0, Malcolm scored two runs during the bottom of the first inning and six more in the bottom of the second when Arlington struggled with throwing errors from its infield.
The Clippers added a solo homer in the third frame and added five runs during the bottom of the fourth after the Eagles pulled within 9-2. Killian McIntosh singled for AHS to start off the fourth, and reached third base with two outs. Andy Misfeldt walked next before Jackson Stosich reached first base and McIntosh crossed home plate.
Despite their efforts, the Eagles dropped to 0-5 in their last five games before returning home for a game against the fourth-ranked Warriors. It dropped to 0-6 after it.
Misfeldt and Luke Ott plated runs for AHS, but Lincoln Lutheran outhit the home squad 10-5 overall. The road team scored six runs during the top of the sixth inning to put the game away.
Tyler Ott struck out four batters for AHS, but also suffered the loss on the pitching mound.
Coach Stender's ballclub was scheduled to compete Monday against Platteview before today's 4:30 p.m. road game at Yutan.
