The Arlington Senior Legion baseball team tried playing Wayne on June 25, but the game was called off during the bottom of the first inning as rain picked up over the Washington County Fairgrounds ball diamond.
After packing up, Post 71 players darted from the dugout to their cars, getting soaked along the way.
Coach TJ Stosich's team was 3-5 overall as the Seniors' Ralph Bishop League (RBL) Tournament was set to begin on Sunday. The Eagles faced Tekamah-Herman in Pender. Results will appear in Friday's Washington County Enterprise edition.
Juniors drop tourney game
The Arlington Junior Legion baseball team lost its first-round matchup with Tekamah-Herman on Saturday during the RBL Tournament. Jack Morgan plated Burke Quinn during the opening inning, but their team fell short in Pender, 9-3.
Post 71's 1-0 lead didn't last long as Tekamah scored two runs during the top of the second inning. From there, Arlington tied it up at 2-all, but would trail from the top of the third frame on.
Tekamah, meanwhile, advanced onto Monday's second round in West Point. The RBL Juniors championship game is Saturday in Wayne at 4 p.m.
On June 25, the Post 71 Juniors were able to complete their regular season home game with Wayne before storms rolled in and thwarted the Seniors' matchup. The visiting team led from the start, scoring two runs during the top of the first inning and winning 10-0.
