Power outages delay AHS track's 2025 debut

Eagles are set to begin today after last week's cancellation

Arlington High School was closed Wednesday through Friday last week, postponing the Eagles' start to the track and field season.
Coach Kyle Buckingham's team was scheduled to compete Friday during the Bulldog Track & Field Challenge at Concordia University in Seward, but a school closure related to power outages thwarted those plans. The outages were in relation to the March 19 snow storm, which brought with it extreme winds.
So, instead, AHS is now tentatively set to begin its track and field season today at Douglas County West High School. The 3 p.m., six-team meet is to feature the hometown Falcons, Fremont, Platteview, Syracuse, Wahoo and the Eagles.
Arlington returns three state qualifiers from last season's Class C runner-up boys squad, while the girls have four returners from its seventh-place 2024 team. Buckingham leads the program with assistant coaches Michaela Curran, Jake Eckhardt, Carla Kaup, Madison Pawoll and Troy Schlueter.
