Post 154 Seniors finish 2nd in S.D.

Blair comes back from 11 down in close loss

The Blair Senior Legion baseball team closed out a 5-1 Lewis & Clark Classic tournament run Sunday with a 1-1 split against Sioux Falls East and Sioux Falls West in Yankton, S.D.
Coach James Bilslend's team came back from an 11-run deficit in the championship game, but lost to the Post 15 East squad, 15-14. Post 154 scored one run during the top of the seventh inning, but it needed two to extend the game.
Tanner Jacobson had a Bears-best three RBIs in defeat, while Nate Wachter, Lee Chavez-Lara and Dylan Swanson plated two runs apiece. Greyson Kay, Brady Brown and Lucas Matejka plated Blair runs, too.
Jakob Gaskill suffered the pitching loss despite a strikeout, while Blaine Rosenbuam struck out four Sioux Falls batters in 2 2/3 innings and Jacobson struck out one in 2 1/3.
Wachter homered in Post 154's second-to-last game of the tournament, too, as the Bears beat Sioux Falls West 17-2 in four innings. Overall, the catcher was 4-for-4 with five RBIs as Blair totaled 14 total hits.
Swanson and Brown tripled during the win, too, finishing with two and three RBIs, respectively. Chavez-Lara knocked in two runs as well, while J'Shawn Unger went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Rosenbaum earned the pitching win, striking out three batters in three innings of work.
Post 154 next competes today in a doubleheader against Scottsbluff. The first Vets Field game starts at 5:30 p.m.
