Fort Calhoun's basketball starters didn't play beyond the second period Monday as the Pioneer girls topped Ralston at home, 49-12.
The win capped a 7-0 December for coach Eric Jones' ninth-ranked squad. The Rams, meanwhile, dropped to 0-9.
FCHS opened its last game of 2024 with a 28-2 first period. The Pioneers then added 12 points during the second before adding nine in the second half.
Raeann Massey led Calhoun with 13 points, while Maelie Nelson notched nine and Ansley Elofson scored eight. Anna McMahon added six points off of the bench, while Jovi Grenier and Kaylee Taylor scored four apiece.
The Pioneers' Kamie Nelson and Ella Bouwman added three and two points, too, respectively.
FCHS next plays 1 p.m. today during the first round of the Blizzard Battle Holiday Tournament in Howells. The Pioneers play Centura during the first round of the four-team, two-day event.
Coach TJ O'Connor's Calhoun boys basketball team then plays 2:30 p.m. in Howells against Centura, too.
