The 2024 total solar eclipse was a spectacle that won't be around for another 20 years.

According to NASA, a total solar eclipse occurs "when the moon passes between the sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk."

On Monday, the 80% totality line reached Washington County around 2 p.m. Watch parties were held indoors and outdoors at the area schools and other spots around the county.
