Otte students rewarded for reading

Posted

One hundred fifty-eight Otte Blair Middle School students were rewarded for excellence in reading with a Golden Sower voting party.

Daphne Barondeau, Lauren Bray, Sofiya Georgiu, Addison Greenwood, Keivah Schuler and Laurana Winz received special honors at the party for reading all 10 books from their Golden Sower list three years in a row.

Thirty-three students in grades sixth through eighth who read all 10 Golden Sower books this year were also honored and awarded certificates at the party.

All students were provided snacks, had the opportunity to vote for their favorite Golden Sower and all won prizes provided by Scholastic and our student senate as they celebrated their accomplishments in reading so far this year.

The winning books for Otte Middle School are: "Alone" by Megan Freeman, first place; "Amari and the Night Brothers" by B. B. Alston, second place; and "Year of the Reaper" by Makiia Lucier, third place.

The Nebraska State Golden Sower Award winners will be announced soon.
