The Class B No. 5 Norris girls basketball team scored eight points across the last 31.6 seconds Friday, including three on a half-court heave, but it wasn't enough to topple No. 9 Blair.
The Bears made the Eastern Midlands Conference (EMC) road trip and won, 44-41, after dropping the teams' first matchup of the season Dec. 30. Coach Matt Aschoff's team is 7-5 after its second consecutive victory in conference play.
Kate Wulf led BHS with 14 points, knocking down three 3-pointers and then five free throws during the fourth period. Addie Sullivan added 11 points, and both Beau Wendt and Taytum Macholan scored six.
Defensively, Aschoff said the Bears learned from their first game with the Titans.
“We went through it yesterday and all the credit goes to the girls talking and executing what we wanted to do in the game,” he explained. “The girls were extremely disciplined and played very well together.”
The coach also credited Blair's rebounding effort, which was improved from its 50-46 loss to Norris during the EMC tournament.
The Bears next compete today at Harlan before a road trip Thursday to Crete.
