The Class C No. 8 Arlington baseball team scored 33 runs across its first eight games of the season.
The Eagles (5-4 overall) scored 33 more Saturday at first-year school Omaha Buena Vista (0-9).
“Still playing to our ability and not playing down to the competition,” winning pitcher Kaden Pittman said when asked what his squad accomplished during the 33-0 win. “Still playing to our standard.”
AHS scored 12 runs during the first inning, four combined during the second and third, and 11 more in the fourth. Coach Tyler Stender's team then capped the game offensively with six runs during the fifth flame.
Eagles sophomore Tim Halley highlighted the offensive effort with his second homer of the season during the second inning. First, though, Pittman, Darren Olson, Jack Bang, Braden Monke, Trevor Denker, Dalton Newcomer and Weston Wollberg unleashed RBI swings during the 12-run first.
Arlington's Tanner Kyllo, Grange Suhr, Luke Sharp, Andy Misfeldt, Kolby Tighe, Tyler Ott, Luke Ott and Jackson Stosich batted in runs, too, during the five-inning game in Omaha.
The win was the Eagles' fourth in their last five games.
“There's obviously room for growth in everything that we do,” Newcomer said, before expressing how strong the team has been playing. “We have a lot of confidence for the upcoming weeks.”
AHS was scheduled to face Raymond Central on Monday and next competes during the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament.
“If we just keep our heads and we play, like Kaden was saying, to our ability, then we can get things done,” Newcomer said. “We can show out and show up.”
