The Class C No. 3 Fort Calhoun baseball team blew its six-run lead, but still beat No. 8 Thurston-Cuming County on Tuesday, 8-7.
The Pioneers' walk-off home win pushed its season record to 14-4, while their visitors dropped to 8-6. Coach Roy Prauner's team led 7-1 going into the top of the seventh inning, but gave up six runs to require the bottom half of the frame to be played.
Travis Skelton started the final half inning with a double and eventually scored after Chase Bierman hit into a fielder's choice. Kenny Wellwood also reached base during the final frame after striking out seven batters across six innings on the mound.
FCHS' Alex Christensen and Charlie Boumstein had RBIs during the win, too, while Chase Premer, Boumstein and Presley Olberding notched a team-best two hits apiece. The Pioneers next play 4:30 p.m. today at Lincoln Christian before Saturday's 1:30 p.m. home game against Omaha Concordia.
