The Class C1 No. 10 Arlington girls basketball team's winning streak hit 10 games and ended in less than 24 hours Friday and Saturday.
The Eagles first beat Raymond Central at home before dropping a 53-39 Saturday afternoon game to Class B Sidney during the Nebraska Girls Basketball Showcase at Kearney High School. Coach Tashia Wolf's team is 10-2 overall, while the Red Raiders improved to 10-3 with their win on a neutral floor.
AHS earned a 14-12 lead through one period at the Showcase, but fell behind Sidney when the Red Raiders outscored the Eagles 16-7 during the second. The victors added to their lead during the 25-18 seconds half, too.
Kierra Schrader scored a game-high 20 points to lead Sidney, while both Emme Timm and Macy Wolf scored 12 points to lead Arlington. Britt Nielsen scored 11 points in defeat, too.
The Eagles will attempt to start a new winning streak 6 p.m. today at North Bend Central. They then host Syracuse at 6 p.m. Thursday.

AHS makes comeback, wins
Nielsen scored 21 of her 26 points after halftime, propelling her No. 10 Eagles to Friday's 55-43, come-from-behind home victory against Raymond Central.
AHS trailed 33-21 at halftime, but held the 8-3 Mustangs to just 10 second-half points. The Eagles evened the score through three quarters, but then took control of the game in the fourth as Nielsen scored 14 points. The forward made two 3-pointers, two buckets from inside the arc and four free throws across the last 8 minutes.
Timm added 15 points during the win, too, while Wolf finished with nine — all after the mid-game intermission.
The win was the Eagles' 10th-straight before Saturday's shortcoming.
