The Blair Bears' second game against top-ranked Gretna East didn't quite go as well as the first.
After a 4-3 loss April 14, coach Nick Hall's No. 5 girls soccer team lost the April 23 Eastern Midlands Championship game rematch to the unbeaten Griffins, 4-0. The title game hosts improved to 12-0 with the win, while BHS dropped to 11-2 overall.
Sonora DeFini and Kendall Dobberstein combined for East's four goals with DeFini scoring two during the 3-0 first half. She found back of the net first during the 12th minute before Dobberstein pushed the Griffins' lead to 2-0 shortly thereafter.
After DeFini's second goal 6 minutes before halftime, the game was delayed by lightning during the break. Both teams returned to the pitch for the second half more than an hour later with Dobberstein scoring her second goal in the 46th minute.
Blair goalkeeper Brooklyn Schroeter, notably, finished with 18 saves in defeat. She's had 40 stops in two matches against East.
The Bears next play tonight, closing out their regular season schedule at Elkhorn. Coach Hall's squad bested the Antlers on April 21, 6-3.
