Mike Laaker, 53, of Bennington, Neb., died on Sept. 7, 2023, at his home of nearly 30 years.
He was born on May 7, 1970, to Denny and Mary Ann Laaker and lived his entire life in Bennington. After graduating from Bennington High School in 1988 Mike attended Southeast Community College in Milford and graduated in 1990.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Denny, grandparents: Leonard and Rose Laaker and D.L and Edith Sidebottom, aunts: Dianne Leehy and Ethel Saathoff, uncles: Bud Sidebottom and Ray Satterfield, and cousin Marcia Sidebottom.
Mike is survived by his mother, Mary Ann; stepdaughter, Michaela; aunts: Edith Satterfield, Margaret Sidebottom, Shelia Leehy; uncles: Larry Leehy, Paul Saathoff; and many cousins, and good friends.
Mike loved spending time with his family and friends and appreciated all the caregivers who were a significant part of his life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023 at a time to mirror the Nebraska versus Northwestern game per Mike’s wishes at the Cottonwood Cove Marina at 10270 Riverside Ln, Blair, NE 68008.
Memorials may be sent to the family where they will be distributed to the countless caregivers and organizations who supported Mike and his family throughout his life.
