Margaret I. Sidebottom, age 88 of Fort Calhoun, formerly of Blair, passed away peacefully, June 24, 2024 at Autumn Pointe in Fort Calhoun. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 10:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Graveside services will follow in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, July 1, 2024 beginning at 3:00 PM with family receiving friends from 6-8 PM at Campbell Aman Funeral Home, Blair.
Margaret was born September 7, 1935 in Omaha, the daughter of Carl and Anita (Suverkrubbe) Hansen. She was raised in the Omaha area and later moved to a farm south of Blair with her family. She attended the Maney Country School where she met her future husband, Bud Sidebottom. After country school, she attended and graduated from Blair High School in 1952. After high school, she worked in accounting at Harding Cream Company. On February 6, 1955, she was united in marriage to Bud Sidebottom at First Lutheran Church in Blair. The couple made their home south of Blair, where she was a vital part of the family farm operation. Margaret later went to work for Huntel as a telephone operator in 1978. She continued to work there until her early retirement in the mid 90’s. For many years Margaret was active in the community in extension clubs, card clubs, church circle clubs, and at the Washington County Recycling Center. She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Blair.
Margaret is survived by her daughter: Sharon (Steve) Ray; grandchildren: Chris (Juli) Ray, Derik Ray (Ashley Nelsen), Karly (John) Weinberg; great grandchildren: Halli Ray, Corwyn Ray and Cami Weinberg; sister Norma Lippincott; brother Merle (Lori) Hansen; sisters-in-law: Edith Satterfield and Mary Ann Laaker; brother-in-law: Paul Saathoff; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bud, daughter Marcia Law, son-in-law Mitchell Law, parents, brother Carl “Marv” Hansen, sister-in-law Ethel Saathoff, brothers-in-law: Ed Lippincott, Ray Satterfield and Denny Laaker; nephew Mike Laaker, nieces Gina Ginn and Julie Poe.
