Lundberg leads BHS tennis at Waverly Invite

Blair High School tennis standout Abi Lundberg earned fourth Thursday during the Waverly Invitational in Lincoln.
The Bears' No. 1 singles player earned a 2-2 record during the tournament, securing her team's top finish its final scheduled event before the NSAA Class B State Championships on May 20-21.
“She had more powerful hits,” BHS coach David Christensen said. “Overall more consistent today.”
Lundberg's teammates all added seventh-place efforts during the Waverly Invite, too. Fiene Bakker was 1-2 at No. 2 singles, while Abby Leggott and Ally Sullivan went 1-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Seniors Leah Chance and Shelby Wolff secured a 1-2 finish at No. 2 doubles, too.
Like Thursday's competition, the NSAA Championships are scheduled to be played at the Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln. Play-in and first-round matches will begin at 9 a.m. May 20.
