Library to host 5th annual student art exhibit

During the month of March, the Blair Public Library is excited to celebrate its fifth year of partnership with the Blair Community Schools and the art educators and administrators by hosting an exhibit of artwork created by Blair students kindergarten through seniors.

Art specialists in the Blair schools include Mrs. Cattlett, Mrs. Schueth, Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Yost and Mrs. Parker.

During the 1960’s, various groups worked to develop an avenue to emphasize the value to students when participating in art education. March was designated Youth Art Month as a time set aside to recognize art education as an important factor in the education of a well-rounded student.

The library exhibit is now open for viewing and a special reception will be held Wednesday, March 13, beginning at 4 p.m. with a welcome and special proclamation presentation by City Council President Kevin Willis celebrating the fifth anniversary of this partnership.

The reception is an opportunity to meet and visit with Blair art instructors as well as other community members. The reception is sponsored by the Blair Fine Arts Boosters.
