Krivohlavek leads AHS girls wrestling in Malcolm

125-pounder earns 1st as team takes 7th

The 125-pound title match between Arlington's Kelise Krivohlavek and Kyler Zimmerman of Conestoga closed out Friday's Malcolm Girls Wrestling Invite.
The 16-1 Eagle beat the 29-3 Cougar, earning a second-period reversal and pin to highlight AHS' seventh-place finish at the 24-team tournament. Krivohlavek earned five wins on the day, including four by pin and a fifth by 17-1 technical fall.
Callee Shearer added a second-place result for coach Layne Laaker's squad, going 2-1 at 130 pounds. The Morningside University (Iowa) recruit secured two pins before 29-2 Wood River wrestler Alyssa Thomas bested her in the finals.
The Eagles' Sofie Lewis earned a podium spot in Malcolm, too. The 120-pounder was sixth, going 2-2. She pinned both Central City's Olivia Walling and Lucy Polivka of Blue River in 2:21 and 1 minute, respectively.
Arlington 110-pounder Brooklyn Ruskamp opened her season post-injury Friday, going 2-2. Rylie Kyllo added two Eagle wins at 115 pounds, too, while Jaydin Allen did the same at 140. Ella Chamberlain (one win at 145 pounds), Caitlyn Camp (one at 155), Dianna Flores (two at 170) and Addyson Beam (two at 190) added contested victories in Malcolm, too.
AHS wrestles next Friday when it hosts its home tourney. Action is set to begin at 5 p.m., according to the Eagles' activities calendar.
