Arlington bests Plainview, 7-6
The Arlington Junior Legion baseball team knocked off Plainview at home Friday, 7-6.
Tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the fourth inning, Post 71's Liam Shearer hit a go-ahead RBI single to plate Parker Robinson. The home team led from there, adding two more runs during the frame when Jack Morgan hit into a two-run error on the Eagles' guests.
Plainview pulled within 6-5 during the fifth inning, but Morgan's two-out single during the bottom of sixth frame wound up pushing across the winning run. Arlington pitcher Cameron Wirsen and his teammates allowed a score during the top of the seventh, but a strikeout pitch ended the inning in the home squad's favor.
On June 18, the Post 71 Juniors hosted Hooper-Scribner, too, but they fell short at the Washington County Fairgrounds. The visitors won the Ralph Bishop League game 8-3.

Blair wins 2 tourney games
The Blair Juniors earned two victories Thursday through Saturday during a tournament split between two locations — Springfield and Bellevue East High School.
To start, Post 154 bested Fort Calhoun 8-0 on Thursday. Brevin Leggott stepped down from Senior Legion play and struck out 13 batters on the mound, allowing just three hits for the game.
Blair took control of the opening round win during the fourth frame, breaking a scoreless tie with four runs. Easton Kosch notched an RBI first before both he and Colton Scheer scored on Calhoun miscues. Leggott then hit an RBI double to cap the decisive inning's scoring.
The Post 154 team won again Friday against Bellevue East Post 339, 12-8. It led 4-0 after two innings and 10-0 going into the fourth frame after a six-run effort in the third.
Altogether, Blair notched nine hits with Lane Christensen, Ike Petersen and Grady Grabbe combining for five, according to the team's GameChanger state-keeping program.
Saturday's game against Springfield did not go Post 154's way, however. Blair fell behind 6-0 and was unable to claw all the way back, falling 6-3.
Before their weekend slate of games, the Blair Juniors hosted Beatrice on June 18 and fell, 7-3. The visiting ballclub scored two first-inning runs, but Post 154 responded with three straight. The home team scored twice during the bottom of the third inning and once more in the fifth when Jaxon Logan scored the go-ahead run.
Beatrice, however, retook the lead with a five-run top of the seventh inning and, ultimately, won the mid-week ballgame.

Zig Drywall goes 1-2 in tourney
The Fort Calhoun Junior Legion baseball team played three games Thursday through Saturday during the Springfield tournament. It went 1-2 in those matchups.
Post 348 started with a game against Blair, falling 8-0. The score was even, 0-0, through three innings before Post 154 logged four runs during the top of the fourth frame.
Altogether, Calhoun batters struck out 13 times against their Washington County neighbors.
On Friday, though, Zig Drywall earned a 12-0 win against Bellevue East Post 339. It scored its first run during the first inning when Gavin Raether scored on a wild pitch.
Form there, Calhoun scored four runs during the second inning, three in the third and four in the fourth for a run-rule victory. Presley Olberding earned it on the mound.
A day later, Saturday, lost a game to Elkhorn North, though. Zig Drywall led 4-0 through 1.5 innings, but ultimately fell short, 10-5.
The Fort Calhoun Juniors scored five runs June 18, too, but couldn't keep up with Hickman. The visiting team beat Post 138 15-5.
Hickman jumped out to seven-run first-inning lead and never trailed by less than six.
