Bears start season with dual win
The Blair boys golf team was victorious in its season-opening dual Tuesday.
The Bears completed nine holes at Elkhorn Valley Golf Course in Hooper, finishing with 183 strokes to Logan View's 189. Luke Ladwig and Easton Chaffee tied for top honors, shooting identical 41s to lead the way.
“Good start on a windy day,” BHS coach Ross Udey said.
The Bears' Adam Grote, meanwhile, shot a 45. Kyle Studanski added 55 swings and Landen Oppliger took 56.
In junior varsity competition, Blair and Logan View tied with 215 strokes apiece. The Bears' Connor Wayman, however, stood alone with a team-leading 50.
BHS continued competition Thursday in Oakland and next competes Monday at Ashland Country Club. That round starts at 9 a.m.

FCHS competes in triangular
Before their first 18-hole tournament of the season Wednesday, the Fort Calhoun golf team hosted a three-team, nine-hole triangular Tuesday at River Wilds Golf Club.
Coach Dustin Humphrey's FCHS lineup finish third with 202 strokes, while Wahoo was first with 180 and Ashland-Greenwood took 199 swings.
Seniors Landon Miller and Owen Newbold led their team with identical 50s, while senior Tyler Eastman and junior Dylan Boldt carded 51 strokes apiece. Sophomore Owen Miller shot a varsity 56 for the Pioneers as well.
Results from Wednesday's Douglas County West Invitational will appear in next Tuesday's Washington County Pilot-Tribune, while Calhoun next takes the course 9 a.m. Monday at Ashland Country Club.
