Bears knock off Beatrice
After an 0-5 start overall, the Blair baseball team picked up its second-straight victory against a ranked opponent Monday.
The Bears traveled to Beatrice and knocked off the Class B No. 6 Orangemen, 7-2. Coach John Roan's squad improved to 2-5 with the win.
BHS' Brady Brown, J'Shawn Unger, Lucas Matejka and Nelson Kosch notched an RBI apiece in the win, while Tanner Jacobson had a team-best two hits. Nate Wachter scored two runs, too.
Dylan Swanson, meanwhile, earned the pitching win. The Doane University recruit threw all seven innings, allowing just six hits and totaling six strikeouts.
Blair was scheduled to play Omaha North on Wednesday and Ralston on Thursday before today's home game against Omaha Northwest. The Bears' 1-5 junior varsity team plays first at 4:30 p.m. on Vets Field.

Arlington falls at DC West
The Arlington baseball team's comeback fell short Tuesday in Valley.
Coach Tyler Stender's Eagles scored all eight of their runs across the last three innings, but the Douglas County West Falcons ultimately prevailed, 12-8. The loss dropped AHS to 2-4, while the home team improved to 2-3.
Tanner Kyllo led the Eagles with two hits in defeat, while Luke Sharp, Blaine Vogt and Tyler Ott had one apiece. Vogt knocked in two runs, too, while Kyllo, Ott and Oliver Ladehoff notched an RBI each.
Tim Halley, Vogt and Kyllo each stole a base in defeat as well.
Arlington next competes 4:30 p.m. today at West Point GACC before a noon Saturday game at the Washington County Fairgrounds against Omaha Buena Vista.
