The Fremont High School boys took first and the girls second Saturday during the Gene Cotter Swimming and Diving Invitational in Lincoln.
The Tigers scored 212 points for the win, besting second-place Lincoln Northeast by 34.
“First time since I have been around one of our teams has won the invite,” FHS coach David Struble wrote in his post-meet recap.
Blair High School student-athlete Jacob Hanson contributed to three first-place finishes for the Tigers. The junior was first in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.96 seconds, while also securing two gold medals in relay races with his FHS teammates.
Arlington's Dathan Hansen joined Hanson on the first-place 400-yard freestyle squad. Zayne Keslar, Micah Moore and the two Washington County swimmers stopped the clock in 3:29.23 for the win.
Eli Hansen of AHS and BHS' Mason Lau also contributed toward the Tigers' invite win. Hansen's top result was fifth in the 1-meter diving event, while Lau was 14th in the 100-yard backstroke.
While the Fremont boys won in Lincoln, the Tigers' girls team was a runner-up to Hastings by 7.5 points. Notably, Blair's Jane Busboom, Kennedy Zehner and Ryleigh Schroeter won the 200 medley relay with FHS' Alexis Rasmussen in 1:56.65.
Busboom added a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, too. The senior clocked in at 59.67 seconds during the event.
Schroeter was second in three more events, while Zehner added a fourth-place result in the 200-yard freestyle, too.
Blair's Hannah Huenink earned her best result of the Cotter Invite in the 400 freestyle relay. Her team took fifth, while LeLah Filows' top finish came during the individual 500 free. She was 17th.
Fremont next hosts Grand Island at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Dillon Family Aquatics Center pool. During the dual, the Tigers will recognize their seniors, including Busboom, Schroeter and Dathan Hansen.
