The Gretna Dragons are set to return to the Eastern Midlands Conference (EMC) in August 2024, while the Gretna East Griffons will make their debut.
Waverly High School Supt. Cory Worrell made the announcement Tuesday, according to The Voice News. His Vikings, Blair, Elkhorn, Norris and Bennington have been consistent members of the conference since Gretna left in the late 2010s, but other teams have come and gone since.
The EMC added Elkhorn North and Lincoln Northwest before both Hastings and Lincoln Standing Bear joined this school year. Plattsmouth and Nebraska City, meanwhile, have departed for the Trailblazer Conference since the Dragons last competed in the Bears' Class B conference.
Altogether, the EMC will have 11 teams during the 2024 school year.
