Golfing for grapplers

Blair wrestling hosts annual scramble at River Wilds

More than 30 teams of four played golf Friday during a fundraising event at River Wilds Golf Club.
The 12th annual Blair Wrestling 4-Person Scramble started as a way to pay for high school wrestlers' hotel rooms, but now benefits grapplers in kindergarten through 12th grade. There are approximately 175 wrestlers in the youth wrestling club, 85 in the Otte Blair Middle School programs and about 70 across the boys and girls high school teams.
Golfers started play at 1 p.m. with dinner set to begin at 6. More than $3,000 in prizes were set to be awarded through the raffle after competition was complete.

Bears participate in summer activites
Blair High School boys wrestling coach Erich Warner said Friday his team has time set aside for mat work two times a week this summer. There were camps in June, too, with one at BHS and another at South Dakota State in Brookings.
Notably, a former Bear and soon-to-be high school Blair wrestler were in North Dakota for the Fargo Nationals last week as well. Both Hudson Loges, a 2025 graduate set to join the Augustana University (S.D.) program this fall, and Forrest Uhing participated.
In June, Uhing also earned Greco-Roman All-Tournament team honors at the 16U national Duals in Utah.
