FRIDAY FOOTBALL UPDATE: County teams go 1-2 in road games

The Arlington, Blair and Fort Calhoun High School football teams hit the road Friday, finishing 1-2 in those contests.
The BHS Bears (2-2 overall) topped Class B No. 9 Omaha Gross at Omaha Bryan, while the AHS Eagles (1-3) lost at Lincoln Christian and the FCHS Pioneers (1-3) dropped their game at Central City.

Arlington loses 34-6
Lincoln Christian outscored the Eagles 34-6 Friday night.
The Crusaders earned a 14-0 lead through one quarter, led 22-0 at halftime and improved to 3-1 with the win.
AHS, meanwhile, scored its first and only touchdown with 2:07 left in the fourth quarter. Killian McIntosh scored it on a 5-yard run.
The Eagles next play at Columbus Scotus on Sept. 22.

Bears beat Gross by 15
BHS evened its season record Friday with a 22-7 win against Omaha Gross.
The Bears trailed 7-0 before a late first-half safety and a Ben Holcomb kick return gave coach Bryan Soukup’s squad a 9-7 halftime advantage.
Brady Brown and Brock Templar added Blair’s next two touchdowns, while the defense held off the Cougars. The Bears next host Elkhorn Mount Michael on Sept. 22.

Central City tops Fort Calhoun
Fort Calhoun fell behind Central City early on Friday and lost, 28-14.
The Pioneers scored a second-quarter touchdown on a pass from Adam Elofson to Blake Welchert, but never got any closer than the seven-point deficit it achieved on the score.
FCHS next hosts Platteview on Sept. 22.
