The Class C1 No. 8 Fort Calhoun football team earned a 20-point win Friday, while its fellow Washington County schools dropped home games.
The Pioneers are 6-1 overall this season, while Arlington is 4-3 and Blair is 0-7.
No. 8 Fort Calhoun 27, Omaha Concordia 7
Coach Zach Byrd’s team trailed the Mustangs 7-0 at halftime, but got its offense going during the third and fourth quarters at home.
Kaiden Rodriguez notched a pair of third-quarter rushing touchdowns, including a 50-yarder, while quarterback Adam Elofson threw a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown passes to Blake Welchert.
Defensively, both Jayson Reynolds and Lucas DeMilt notched second-half interceptions.
FCHS next plays at unbeaten Wahoo on Oct. 17.
No. 7 Seward 42, Blair 7
The visiting Seward Bluejays led 35-0 at halftime and left Krantz Field with a 35-point victory.
The Bears scored their lone touchdown with 4:27 left during the fourth quarter when Carson Faue ended a 13-yard run in the end zone.
BHS next competes Oct. 17 against Elkhorn. The Antlers dropped to 0-7 Friday, too.
Yutan 28, Arlington 8
Ben Flesner scored on a 5-yard run during the second quarter, but it was the Eagles’ lone score during a 20-point loss.
The Chieftains (5-2 overall) led 14-8 at halftime before adding two more scores during the third quarter.
AHS dropped to 4-3 with the loss and is next scheduled to face 2-5 Tekamah-Herman — who forfeited Friday’s scheduled game against Fremont Bergan — on Oct. 17.
