The Blair High School football team improved to 1-2 Friday, while both Arlington and Fort Calhoun fell to the same record.
The Bears earned their first win of the fall 48-6 against Ralston, while the Eagles lost 53-16 to Class C1 No. 10 Pierce and the Pioneers dropped a 21-20 game at Wayne.

Bears rout Rams
Crayton Macholan, Brock Templar, Brady Brown, Ethan Baessler and Ethan Lundgren scored touchdowns during BHS’ 42-point home win.
Templar scored three TDs overall, including one on a 25-yard throw from senior quarterback Bode Soukup. Macholan also caught one of the QB’s scoring throws, while Baessler returned a Ralston kick 90 yards during the second half.
The Bears led 14-0 after one quarter, 35-0 after two and tallied the last score — Lundgren’s 11-yard run — with just 7:17 left during the win at Krantz Field.
Coach Bryan Soukup’s team next plays at Class B No. 7 Omaha Gross on Sept. 15.

Pioneers drop tight road game
Fort Calhoun committed seven turnovers — five interceptions and two fumbles — but lost by just one point in Wayne, 21-20.
The Pioneers fell behind 14-0 during the first half, but cut their deficit to seven points when quarterback Adam Elofson connected with senior Grayson Bouwman for a 70-yard touchdown pass with 2:29 left before the end of the second quarter.
Coach Zach Byrd’s team then added a second touchdown with 1:28 left in the half when Blake Welchert scored on a 3-yard run.
Tied 14-all, FCHS took the lead during the third quarter when Preston Johnson hauled in Elofson’s second touchdown pass of the game.
Wayne responded at Wayne State College, though, scoring what wound up as the winning touchdown and extra point with 4 minutes left in the third quarter.
Calhoun next competes Sept. 15 at Central City.

Eagles drop to 1-2
Kieryn Grothe and Tim Halley scored Arlington touchdowns Friday, but the Eagles lost at home by 37 points to Pierce.
The visitors led 47-8 at halftime despite Cooper Staats’ first-quarter scoring pass to Grothe and went ahead 53-8 in the third on their final touchdown.
Halley’s fourth quarter score, meanwhile, came on a 13-yard run.
Coach Colter Mattson’s AHS squad next competes Sept. 15 at Lincoln Christian.
