Arlington American Legion baseball players practiced rather than play Friday night after their game against South Sioux City was postponed.
A field lights issue at the Washington County Fairgrounds was the cause. Coach TJ Stosich said it came up Thursday during the Arlington Spartans' town team game and wasn't fixed until late Friday afternoon.
The Post 71 Seniors were scheduled to be back in action Monday, though, and next compete 8 p.m. Wednesday against Pender in Arlington.
Seniors beat Tekamah
The Arlington Seniors used two big offensive innings to best Tekamah-Herman on the road June 4, 9-4.
Post 71 scored five runs during the third inning and four more in the seventh after the home team pulled within 5-4.
Dallin Franzluebbers' triple was an offensive highlight, Coach Stosich said, noting how it helped his team “seal the deal.”
Tyler Ott, meanwhile, earned the Arlington pitching win with six strikeouts. Wes Monke relieved him on the mound, too, getting out of a bases-loaded situation to keep the visitors' advantage on the scoreboard intact.
