Washington County high school swimmers competed Saturday in Elkhorn, helping their Fremont Tigers secure third in the boys' team standings and fourth in the girls' during the 18th annual Fete' Fling Invitational.
Only Omaha Creighton Prep and Elkhorn finished ahead of coach David Struble's boys, while Elkhorn, Gretna and Beatrice/Norris/Fairbury/Freeman earn spots ahead of the FHS girls.
Jacob Hanson of Blair High School was first in the 50-yard freestyle for the Tigers, clocking in at 22.57 seconds. The junior also produced a second-place relay finish and a third-place result in the 100 breaststroke.
BHS' Jane Busboom, meanwhile, secured three second-place finishes, including two in individual events — the 100 and 200 freestyles. Her senior classmate, Ryleigh Schroeter, was second in the 200 IM as well.
Kennedy Zehner joined both Blair 12th-graders and Alexis Rasmussen in the 200 free relay as the team earned second. The BHS standout also earned fifth during the individual 200 freestyle race.
Arlington senior Dathan Hansen aided the Tigers to a second-place result in the 400 free relay, too. His brother, Eli, was sixth in the 1-meter diving event.
Additionally, Blair swimmer Hannah Huenink competed on fifth- and sixth-place relay teams for FHS, while Mason Lau earned sixth alongside Tiger teammates in the 200 medley relay.
Blair freshman LeLah Filows' best finish came during the 400 free relay event. Her four-swimmer squad earned 11th.
Fremont next swims 11 a.m. Friday during the first day of the Heartland Athletic Conference meet at the Dillon Family Aquatic Center. The meet continues 1 p.m. Saturday in the Tigers' home pool.
