The Fort Calhoun Pioneers couldn't be topped for the second-straight track and field meet.
After last week's team title sweep at Douglas County West, coach Mandy Taylor's did it again Tuesday at Logan View High School. The FCHS boys scored 149.5 team points, besting second-place Platteview by 37, while the girls earned a 1.5-point victory over Wahoo Neumann — 115.5-114.
Altogether, the Pioneers won 12 events, including four relay races. The boys won all three of its team efforts, starting with the 3,200-meter relay. Seth Waters, Chris Post-Whiteowl, Merritt Olberding and Will Dennis ran it in 8:47.22.
Alex Schuler, Clay Bohnenkamp, Kaiden Rodriguez and Michal Maxon, meanwhile, won the boys' 400 relay in 43.6 seconds. Calhoun's Maelie Nelson, Ari Nelson, Kaylee Taylor and Madi Larrick won the girls' 400 in 52.06, too.
Then, in the 1,600 relay race, Conner Hart, TJ DeMilt, Blake Welchert and Matthew Kelly won in 3:44.4 to cap the boys' meet victory.
Individually, Maxon (100- and 200-meter dashes), Waters (800 run), DeMilt (pole vault), Taylor (triple jump), Emilee Thayer-Mencke (high jump), Afton Byelick (pole vault) and Isabel Wray (discus) won events. Bohnenkamp (100 dash), Brayden Bessey (3,200 run), Dylan Keyser (discus), Bella McLaughlin (100 hurdles), Taylor (300 hurdles) and Ella Bouwman (triple jump) added second place results as well.
Those results — and many more top-six finishes — resulted in 265 FCHS team points, which was 47 more than the next-best school total across boys and girls competition.
The Pioneers were scheduled to compete Thursday during the Wahoo Invitational and next compete April 24 at Louisville. That regular season invite starts at 1:30 p.m.
