FCHS' Miles signs with Midland football

Lineman earned all-state honorable mention last fall

Fort Calhoun senior Colton Miles celebrated signing to play for the Midland University Warriors on Friday.
“I've always dreamed of playing college football,” said the offensive and defensive lineman.
An Omaha World-Herald Class C1 honorable mention recipient this past season, Miles was in the mix with his Pioneers from his freshman season on. There were a lot of successes across four football seasons, but some low points, too.
“I've struggled through injuries, so it's kind of cool to just be able to persevere through all that and finally make my dream come through,” he said.
The lineman played on both sides of the ball as a senior, notched eight total tackles and a sack defensively as FCHS reached the C1 playoffs.
Altogether, Miles said he had about 10 offers to play for different colleges, choosing Midland in the end of his recruitment.
“They were my first offer,” he said of the Warriors.
The coaching staff, the Pioneer said, was key to his decision.
“I love the coaches there,” Miles explained, noting offensive line coach Mike Adams and head coach Jeff Jamrog specifically. “They made me feel at home.”
He goes into college football with high goals. He said he'd like an opportunity to play right away and one day hopes to earn All-American status.
Midland, meanwhile, went 6-5 last fall with a 5-5 Great Plains Athletic Conference record.
