The Fort Calhoun girls wrestling team crossed the Missouri River and earned fifth out of 22 scoring teams Monday at Council Bluffs Lewis Central.
Annaleigh McLaughlin and Beckah Gossman again led coach Lilly Gossman's Pioneers during the Titans Survival Series, earning their second tournament weight class titles in three days' time. Madi Larrick, Anna Rae Hartline and Emma Ochoa-Gomez secured top-five finishes for FCHS as well.
McLaughlin, though, earned pins across all three 105-pound matches she wrestled in Iowa. The 33-11 Calhoun standout stopped her first opponent in just 17 seconds, her second in 75 and her third in 40, according to trackwrestling.com.
Beckah Gossman, meanwhile, won the 145-pound bracket with three pins and a medical forfeit. Her fastest pin came in 28 seconds against Millard North's Victoria Rocha.
Red Oak's Nicole Bond beat Larrick in the wrestlers' 130-pound third-place match, but the Pioneer still earned fourth with a 4-2 Survival Series record. She opened with a 16-second pin and added three more from there.
Hartline was fourth at 135 pounds, too. She was 3-2 with three pins Monday, falling to Clarinda's Kylar Downey during the third-place match.
At 100 pounds, Ochoa-Gomez was 2-2 with a fifth-place match win by medical forfeit. She also pinned Red Oak's Emma Sallach in 4:35.
Altogether, Fort Calhoun notched 15 pins during the day trip to Lewis Central. Ali Dill added one and two wins overall despite falling short of the medal round.
Coach Gossman's Pioneers were fifth as a team, but second among Nebraska lineups behind third-place Yutan. They bested sixth-place Bellevue East and others.
FCHS next wrestles 10 a.m. Saturday when it hosts the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament.
