Through 8 minutes, the Fort Calhoun boys basketball team trailed David City by six points Dec. 20.
At the end of 32, though, coach TJ O'Connor's Pioneers earned a 63-32 home win. The turnaround resulted in FCHS' second win of the season. It is 2-4 going into its holiday break.
The Scouts earned a 14-8 lead through one quarter, but reality hit during the second as the Pioneers produced 19 points to their one. Calhoun guard Travis Skelton hit the first of his four 3-pointers during the period, while Blake Welchert produced all five of his points.
The Pioneers outscored David City 22-9 during the third quarter, too, ultimately producing the 31-point victory. Skelton finished with a team-best 14 points, while Eli Tinkham knocked down three 3s and finished with 13 points. Kade Foy had two of the home squad's nine long-range makes, too, complimenting Adam Elofson's 11 points with eight of his own.
Cameron Hlavac, meanwhile, led the Scouts with 16 points in defeat.
FCHS next plays Jan. 3 during a holiday tournament at Howells-Dodge.
