Elva May Hansen, age 100 of Blair, passed away May 28, 2023, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Community in Blair.  Funeral services will be held Friday June 2, 2023, at 10:00AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair.  Visitation will be held at the church 1 hour prior to services.  Graveside services will be held in the Herman Cemetery.

Elva May Lang was born at Hooper, Nebraska on February 6, 1923, to parents Ernest and Emma (Pawling) Lang. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. 

She moved to Herman, Nebraska, with her family as a small child and grew up in the Herman area and graduated from Herman High School in 1940. After high school she worked as a telephone operator in Herman. During the war years she worked as a bookkeeper for the Hancock Implement Company of Herman and Blair. 

She was engaged to marry Roy C. Hansen in 1941, but then Pearl Harbor was bombed, and the United States entered the second Great War. Roy was drafted into the army and headed to serve his country. In four years, they corresponded by a handful of letters and only 2 phone calls. In late 1945, Roy returned to Herman, and they were married on December 16th of that year at Trinity Lutheran in Blair. They lived near Hooper for five years and then moved to Herman in 1951 where they raised their family. 

She is survived by her brother Don of Blair and many nieces and nephews, son Larry (Marla) Hansen of Herman, daughter Diane Rogert of Herman, granddaughter Cari (Trevor) Whitehill, grandson Kent Rogert, grandson Brandt (Jodi) Hansen, grandson Kevin (Jodi) Rogert, granddaughter Jamie (Randall) Brummond, step-granddaughters Aubrey (Jim) Nielsen, Annie (Dylan) Wheaton, Danielle (Andy) Egan, Katie (Jared) Krause, and 10 step-great-grandchildren, great-grandson Max (Shannon) Hansen, great-grandson Carson Rogert, great-granddaughter Reese Hansen, great-grandson Mason (Sophie Larson) Whitehill, great-granddaughter Adi Rogert, great-grandson Keaton Whitehill, great-granddaughter Cameron Brummond, great-granddaughter Taylor Brummond, great-grandson Remmington Brummond, and great-great-granddaughter Kassandra Whitehill. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy (2006), son Ronnie R Hansen (2012), brothers Harold and Neil Lang, sisters Katherine Schutte, Selma Haig, Helen Lang, Pearl Brodersen, Fern Krohn and son-in-law Dave Rogert. She was a member of the Herman Legion Auxiliary and Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. She worked on the farm throughout her years in Hooper and Herman, and also was an election poll worker in Herman for many years. In her retirement after she and Roy moved to Blair, she was very active in keeping up with the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, wherever in the world they happened to be.
