The Arlington girls basketball team responded to its first loss of the season with a pair of road routs.
After a one-point loss to Yutan on Dec. 5, the Eagles (4-1 overall) topped Nebraska City on Friday, 59-35, and Omaha Brownell-Talbot on Saturday, 60-23.
“We're really going off of the premise that we want respect back from people,” coach Tashia Wolf said. “We want to play with that tempo and that mindset that we are tough and we can dominate.”
AHS dominated Saturday against the Raiders, leading 20-6 after one period when Emme Timm scooped up a loose ball and turned it into a layup just before the end of the quarter. Gracen Adams made a bucket just before the half, too, for a 35-12 advantage.
“The girls had a rough time yesterday, actually. It was not a great game for us,” Wolf said of the Nebraska City win. “But, today, they really worked hard to redeem themselves, and to get that tempo back up and their intensity back up.”
Junior Britt Nielsen led the Eagles in victory with 17 points. Timm added 13 and Macy Wolf totaled 12. Altogether, nine of the 10 Arlington players to check into the game scored.

The sophomore guard scored eight 2-point buckets, a 3-pointer and a free throw as AHS built a 35-15 lead. The Eagles outscored the Pioneers 18-3 during the second period alone.
In addition to Timm's total, Wolf scored 10 points and Nielsen had six.
Arlington next plays today at Douglas County West.
