Arlington High School golfer Sarah Rhea holed a chip on No. 10 Tuesday at River Wilds Golf Club.
The shot, approximately 4 feet from the green, left the Eagle even on the par-4 hole.
“I'm so happy,” Rhea said. “I've never done something like that.”
The senior later finished with the lowest score in coach Cailyn Johnson's lineup during the Bennington Invitational. She carded 114 strokes across 18 holes as the Eagles finished 12th with 513 total.
“The back nine was a lot better,” Rhea said after taking just 54 swings on Nos. 10-18.
Aspen Smutz, meanwhile, was consistent across the front- and back-nine holes, finishing with 63 strokes on both for an overall 126 — AHS' second-lowest score of the tourney.
“It wasn't as good as I was hoping, but it wasn't the worst,” she said, adding that she was happy overall with her score. “I improved from the first meet.”
While there are areas for her to improve, Smutz was pleased with at least one aspect of her play Tuesday.
“My driving was pretty good today,” she said.
Arlington's Bella Wilcox added 135 strokes toward the team total, while Ally Meyer finished 18 holes with 138 swings. Honora Andreasen totaled 142, too.
“We're going to be back here on this course, so I'm excited to keep working on these holes and see if I can get that score even further down,” Rhea said just before the awards ceremony.
The Eagles were scheduled back at River Wilds for a triangular on Thursday before they host their own invite on the Blair course next Tuesday. The Arlington Invitational starts at 9 a.m. with 13 overall teams taking part.
Smutz has just one goal for the tournament — a lower score.
